flip VDO

So...it has been quite a while since I have updated this blog. Sorry wonderful followers of mine. I am sure you have missed my witty comments.

...But anyway, digital video = awesome. I used a few flip videos in my class last week. As part of my first FACTS unit, my students are creating a science website. One of their pages is called Experiments. Each group got the chance to video tape themselves doing an experiment that they created. The video is going to be imbedded on their website. The students had a great time with videotaping. They were realy excited for it. A few groups had an experiment that they recorded over a period of time and got the chance to use moviemaker to splice their videos together. I haven't done any teaching with movie maker, but am really excited to create a lesson for my students. I think they will have a great time. As I already stated, digital video = awesome!!

  1. I too used the Flip camera for my first FACTS unit. It was pretty cool to see the kids more motivated to be active. I had originally wanted to just plug in the camera and use the videos together. Now I am tempted to have them experiment with movie maker.

  3. I'm glad to hear the Flip cams worked out well, Brian. I'm venturing into that next week with my second unit and I'm so nervous about the students staying on task, using this tool correctly, and their projects coming out ok. (They are going to be taping a Science experiment, too.) Just curious--did the whole class tape at once or a few at a time? Was it hard to create quiet spaces for them to do their taping? Sorry for all the questions--I'll have to ask you more about this in class...or look for your next blog about it. :)
